Some reasons for poor skin on a dog can be poor nutrition (especially a deficiency of Omega-3 fatty acids), not brushing frequently, not bathing often enough, or using the wrong shampoo. In addition, medical conditions such as thyroid or hormone imbalance, fleabite reactions or bacterial dermatitis are all skin problems that a vet can correct.

Great information. My dogs both itch like crazy and I think they have dry skin. So I am giving them Omega 3 which I hope helps.

You are so right! And i am so glad you added this Margaret because I am a huge believer in the Omega-3 oils and think Nordic Naturals has the only one that is reliably fresh and pure and 100% Norwegian fish oil. I even take it myself now that i see how shinymy dogs are and how much less they shed on it.
