Swatting a puppy with your hand or a rolled up newspaper is frowned upon as archaic by today’s “positive only” trainers. Corporal punishment is a sure way of bringing out the worst defensive instincts in a pup. It’s easy – just don’t do it.

Thank you for sending that message out… it is great.
I know too many people who hit their dogs and think nothing of it… because the dog will forget…. what are they thinking…

I have never even raised my voice to my dog and I ignore the negative but go crazy with the positive and my dog (a doodle – dachund/poodle) is well trained, loving and obedient….. and loves us to pieces..

    Really enjoy the website
    Keep up the good work

Your wonderful understanding of positive reinforcement- and the uselessness of being harsh- is why you have a little dog who is good-good-good him(her??)self. can you send me a photo to post on my DOG TALK family photo page of my website? Bet he’s a cutie pie!
