Make sure your toy breed of dog has plenty to eat, because they can get low blood sugar, which is called hypoglycemia. Where most puppies need to eat three times a day, it is recommended that toy breed puppies eat four to five times a day or it could be a serious health risk. Sadly, none of the pet stores that sell mostly toy breed puppies rarely tell anybody about this serious risk.

I know they need to eat a lot…

I wouldn’t recommend five times a day, though. Toy breeds are already finicky without being fed five times a day. xD

    I’d say four.

Let me clarify: was only talking about when they are PUPPIES that they need to eat that frequently. Heavens, you’re right – you could never get a grown little one to cooperate that often or that much!
