There is really nothing cuter than watching a dog lick from a cup between his paws. It’s one of life’s great pleasures. Instead of sending you off for pre-made treats, we invite you whip up a batch of Frosty Paws at home. It’s so easy, even your dog could do it.
Here’s all you need: 1 quart vanilla yogurt (preferably nonfat), 1 ripe banana, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 2 tablespoons honey. First, puree the banana in a blender. Add the peanut butter and honey and continue processing until smooth. Then, add yogurt and process until all ingredients are blended together. Pour the mix into small containers like Glad reusable mini containers or Dixie 3-ounce mini cups. Freeze until solid and you’ll make about 10 per batch. YUMM and even BETTER make the “cups” out of dog cookie dough, I use various recipes from cookbooks for dogs, using alternatively rice flour, millet flour, even quinoa flour which has added benefit of being high in calcium. Any dog cookie or dog biscuit recipe can be formed into “cups” using a muffin tin and baked, and when cooled can hold the frozen treat. PS in my household we call the frozen treats with banana and p’nut butter “the frozen Elvis”!
Hey, This is a great recipe! I was about to go on a LONG search on the internet to see if I could find any recipes like this! Thanks a million!
By-the-way, can you use normal yogurt not vanilla flavored to make this? Will it change anything except the taste??
Sounds like a good recipe, but I encourage owners to take cautions if their dog hasn’t had yogurt before as some dogs have problems with lactose and dairy products and too much can give most dogs stomach upset. I’ve met dogs that did well with a small amount of yogurt as part of their diet for the probiotics, others that couldn’t even handle a small amount without getting digestive upset (gas or worse).
