Why does a dog always go for the toilet bowl water? Pretty gross, but it’s likely that your dog likes the temperature of the water in there. Try placing ice cubes in his water bowl and see how much he digs it!

I have been told that ice in the water bowl is dangerous to the dog and should not be done. Now perhaps putting refreezable cold packs in would do but ice cold water is not good for animals.

It’s only gross if us humans have to share…I am fortunate I have a spare bathroom that I have designated dogs only. I have removed the toliet seat, so no one forgets. I also have installed an automatic toilet flusher (like in some restaurants and public places) so everytime he drinks, it flushes and they have a clean, cool source of water. I was thinking of putting some fake movie prop rocks around the toilet to make it appear like a pond in the wild. LOL

If a dog is really hot, let them play with ice cubes! It cools them off all over and gives them something fun to do! Toilet water! YUCK!

My dog is odd and doesn’t like ice. :( If I put any in her bowl, she picks it all out and then drinks. lol Then she just lets it melt on the floor.

Thats pretty cool to add an automatic toilet flusher, everyone loves fresh water. hahah and yes definitely add the rocks. It would add a nice touch!

My Mimi puts ice cubes in our water bowl every day, especially in the summertime and we luvs it. We never go
to the toilet bowl anymore. It’s important to remind everyone that ice cube time is also time to wash out our bowls wif’ dishwash soap before putting new water and the ice cubes in.

My shiba prefers to drink water from her bowl in our bedroom over her bowl in the living room. They’re both ceramic water bowls, but I guess the water in the bedroom is cooler as it retains the coolness from the airconditioning.

Mokie and Monte only want refrigerated water in the summer time, they like a fresh, cool drink!
