I would have never believed such a simple thing could work, but I’ve have a handful of friends get the Thundershirt to try out with their anxious and fearful dogs and they’ve seen an alteration in anxiety almost immediately after putting the shirt on. Our 14 year old Lhaso Apso has Canine Cognative Disorder (CCD) or better known as dementia. I bought this thundershirt and she wears it all the time. The anxiety associated with CCD is tremendous. Wearing the shirt, she about 90% pacing and she sleeps all night. It’s wonderful. When I got it, I thought…I had been taken with this….tshirt material and velcro…who would have thought. Thank you whoever created the Thundershirt…we appreciate you and Buffy loves it. We will be traveling from Florida to Texas soon…and I hope it works as well on the road trip as it does now.
The thundershirt did not work at all for my barking bichon. It did not calm her down while driving either she still got car sick.

I bought a thundershirt for my Bichon in the hopes using it would calm his anxiety while riding in the car for long trips.
While the shirt did work to prevent him from barking at fireworks (he slept through the 4th of July this year), the shirt did no good at all for the car riding anxiety. In fact it made him cry all the louder!
BTW, my Bichon couldn’t care less if it’s thundering. The only time thunder “bothers” him is if he is sleeping and a huge clap of thunder wakes him up. He will look around as if to say, “Excuse me, I’m trying to sleep here” and go back to snoozing.
I have the Thundershirt for my golden retreiver mix, I don’t see a difference with Buddy. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, it just isn’t working for him.

My dog is terrified of thunder. What always helps is Rescue Remedy. She takes it with a bit of peanut butter, goes into her safe place, which is my closet; her favorite though is all 103 pounds in my lap of course;we do not do that anymore…..now that she is getting older she hears a bit less so this is one positive of aging for her.
