The Daily Dog Tip

If you have more than one dog, there’s nothing wrong with bringing all of them along even if only one of them has an appointment with the vet. There are two reasons for this: the first is that the dog that is the patient will appreciate the moral support of his four-legged family members. The second reason is that for the other dog(s), not being the patient will make future trips to the vet much less intimidating. The next journey to the vet’s office will be just a visit to a place with interesting smells.

It equally helps when you take the dog on mini trips in the car, other than just visits to the Vet….Take the dog/s for a mini trip to the park, around the block, not just for vet trips:) make other trips fun:) need more ideas?:) k9katelynn.com..thank you from your friends at k9katelynn

Ask your vet first before doing this – it is a distraction for them and you while the dog is being examined. You can’t listen as well if you are controlling more than one, and many offices are small and the other dogs can simply get in the way and even create hazardous situations. k9katelynn has a good post – if your dog is used to the car and sometimes goes places she can enjoy, going to the vet will not be so stressful.

My little dog was fine at the vet until she got spayed.. Now she is a nervous wreck but still tolerated it. IE: For nails until.. one of the vets came in, took the clippers and grabbed her paw and tried to start clipping. The dog put up a huge fuss. First time it was ever that bad. Now she is scared to even have her nails done. I take her to the office just for a weigh in so that she can get used to the fact it doesn’t always hurt or make you feel sick by going there. That people are not going to be mean and aggressive. I do not let her see that particular vet in that office any more. We are working through her new “Issues” as a result of bad practice!!
I do give her rescue remedy a couple hours before heading of to the vet. She shakes about a 1/4 as much by doing that. She starts shaking as soon as we pull into the parking lot :(
