The Daily Dog Tip

None of it: grapes, raisins, grape juice, wine. While one raisin or one grape that rolls under the table is not a real problem, grapes in quantity are very toxic and dogs seem to be attracted to them. Grape toxicity begins with vomiting and diarrhea and can progress to kidney failure 24 hours after ingesting. Beware guests who leave half-finished glasses of wine around and amateur dog trainers who amuse themselves by tossing grapes to your begging dog.

Thanks for reminding us dog owners (actually who owns who?! ) the danger of grapes. Grapes seem to be a benign treat but are really are deadly if ingested in quantity. I will pass this on!

OMG are you kidding me??? I have quite a few dogs who eat grapes.I have a catahoula who ABSOLUTLY LOVES THEM.Now before any of you say I am irresponsible my dog will be 7 this year. I allow him grapes their his favorite treat. I dont over indulge him. a few here and there. Ok so there was one dog somewhere that had an alergic or toxic reaction to grapes. so the owner went wild and started a nasty rumor that it was SOOO deadly to dogs. I have had dogs that loved grapes my whole life one of my dogs lived 33 human years and another lived 26. both ate grapes.both slept in my bed both on may occasions stole chocolate. i have been the reciever of many a tonsil check when i wasnt paying attention to a pup. (tounge in my mouth) this is rediclous. suddenly everything and anything is toxic and deadly in the smallest amount, use your head folks. moderation is the key.now days someone says “omg grapes are deadly” and we run with it and spread wild rumors that are unfonded

I think this statement is true… Dogs nowadays are being taught to beg at the table, and owners respond by giving their dogs what they’ve been begging for, thus teaching the action ‘beg’ and also giving dogs unhealthy snacks, which, in this case, are grapes and grape products.

To the person who feeds their dogs grapes….

Why take the chance? Do your dogs NEED to have grapes? What, on earth, is the big freaking deal defending your dogs desire to eat grapes? I just can’t believe anyone would even take the chance. Leave the grapes out of the equation. Do your dogs need grapes to survive? No, they don’t, so let it freakin’ be.

My dogs have always eaten our concord grapes with no side effects. My oldest chihuahua is now 11 years old and very healthy.

I have never read or spoken with any vet that would tell you to let your dog eat grapes! NEVER!

I so agree with NO grapes or wine or juice and especially no wine or anything alcoholic, evern beer.

I f’ed my chi grapes and nothing ever happend.. Doesn’t mean I’m going to feed my dogs them anymore..y take the risk..but it was always one or two grapes.. I had a dog that ate a whole box of sees candy!!.. He was alright so i don’t know..but when we r feeding our dogs MEAT BYPRODUCTS..I think real chicken eggs and rice are not harmful!there’s probably more chemicals in average dogfood!!
