Dogster Site News and Updates

If you saw the last entry here you’ll know that we’ve been trying to make Pup Pals work better for everyone. But we quickly realized that we ended up punishing all users just to fence in a couple junk yard dogs. So Pup Pal connecting is now reverted to the original process, but if you ever feel like you don’t want to hear a certain dog’s bark, you’ll soon see options for muzzeling unwanted requests.

Perhaps you noticed that we’ve temporarily removed the ‘Friendlist’ link. Sadly Pup Pals were making some big problems for us. Some people were getting 5,6,7 requests from the same dog they did not know. So from here on out to make a Pup Pal connection you’ll need to know the email of that dog’s guardian. Now that we have Dogster Private Messaging, consenting Dogster folks can safely chat, so that would be the place to meet new doggies and decide if you want to swap emails for Pup Pals. You can always save dogs you love in your Corral.

We love how much fun everyone is having with this, (woof woof woof!) but our top goal has always been and always will be that no user should ever have a bad experience, so we’ve got to make sure that never happens! Bark us a message if you have any thoughts on this. (Sparky is my dog and I Dogster Message ;)

Ted here, just had to stop what I was doing and say you Dogster folks rule. I knew that people would enjoy the site, but I had no idea how many would LOVE THIS SITE. Even I can’t keep up with each new dog added, but everyday I click on as many as I can and you know what? They are all great. The pictures crack me up and make me squeel like a kid. The entries are hysterical and the stories are great.

The good news is it that we’ve got so many new plans you won’t believe your paws. It’s gonna be so fun you’ll never stop chasing your tails! Have you tried the Dogster Private Messaging yet? So thanks for all the great emails of thanks and encouragement. Thanks for all the suggestions and thanks for helping us keeping the site clean and fun. But most of all thanks for being here. Thanks for adding such great photos and profiles and thanks for supporting our advertisers (you are supporting our advertisers aren’t you. ;)

Is this for real: The Dog Island. People who want to free-range their dogs can purportedly send them to live out their days on big dog island or small dog island for free!

Have you ever seen dogs living on their own? Holy dog fight, Batman! They even claim to have visiting days ("So, before we set out I just want to make sure everyone has signned their rabbies waiver") . Does anyone know anything about this? We’d love to know the deal.

I’d go visit but it’s booked for the next 12 years and there are no “poor” accomodations.

Update: Thanks to savy readers Kristin and Sifu we now know for certain it’s a hoax.
