Have you ever seen the amazing picture book America24/7 or it’s predecessor the A Day In The Life series. I’ve met the publishers and they are working on two new books Dogs24/7 and Cats24/7. Even better, you can submit your best photos and if you’re one of the lucky it will be included in the permanent book. Submissions close November 15th, so make sure to get them in before then to have a shot at the book.

We think our members rule (that’s because you do ;) and we’re sure your friends are probably pretty awesome too. So we started a fun contest with fun prizes. Each time a friend you refer joins one of our sites, then you get another entry into our contest. The grand prize winner will get to pick Dog or Cat of the Week. The first prize winner will get a Dogster T-shirt and five second place winners will get to each pick a Dog or Cat of the week. We’ll keep everything confidential and take care of tallying up your contest entries.
Since we put Paw Ratings live over 400,000 votes have been cast for over 49,000 pets. But better than that we’ve adjusted the High Fives stroll so dogs are displayed in order of highest rating AND most votes. So a dog with a 5-paw rating based upon 20 votes will be seen before with a 5-paw rating based upon only one vote. This way the first dogs seen are those that truly are the most pawpular dogs.
Of course all dogs are Best In Show to us, but for those that need to quantify and compare this is the real deal.
Now, for the first time ever, you can truly represent your Dogster colors by sporting our brand new t-shirts and buttons available in The Dogster Store. The shirts are eye-catching, made of long-lasting cotton with high-quality screen printing. The buttons are about the size of a US quarter and look good with anything. We wear ours everywhere. If you are hoping for a specific product we don’t have yet, let us know and we’ll add it to the list. Woof woof woof!
Now, when you are viewing any dog’s page you’ll see tool buttons to handle everything instead of text links. These new Dogster Play Toys allow you to Corral, Invite Friendships, Leave Treats, Tell Friends, Send Messages or See Diaries. Soon you’ll see these buttons migrate to other pages as they make so much more sense. Thinkcorp’s Tim Barkow made the buttons for us and the are as fun as they are sharp. What do you think? Now we all can know what the most popular names are on Dogster. Just go to the Dogster Stats page and see for yourself. If you guessed Max and Molly you are currently correct! But since our goal is fun you can see the top 100 most popular names anytime you want.
Some of our newest site additions have really taken off so we thought it was time to highlight them. First off, there are over 2,250 pets keeping Diaries in Catster and Dogster! Have you read them all? We’re working on making it easier to read and track your favorite Diaries, but we bet you’re gonna like the new Diary Central page with links to all types of Diaries and special Diary pet strolls. You can also do a random stroll through pet journalists in the “see she dog’s” link I Have A Diary”.
Speaking of new links, we’ve broken out “Gimme Some Paw” to lead to strolls to give paw and a stroll to see which pets are the most pawpular. Voting on pets is definitely not for all, but for those that want to find out who is best in show anyone can opt in and be part of the fun. Why not! Woof woof to all U.S. dogs! Election day is November 2, 2004. Your humans will have the chance to vote in less than 1 month for a long slate of local, state and national representatives. Gigdet the Punk Pock Princess says VOTE and so do we! In fact some friends of ours are so keen that you vote that they’ll give both you and a friend $100,000 if you do!
Check out the new icons for treats! It’s pretty dang hard making decent images that 24x8 pixels but old friend Tim Barkow did a great job. He even made a purple-level treat that we put above the red level. Thanks for the treats Tim!
