Heck you can now ever used the advanced search to add a puppy requirement to all your searches. Which are your favorites?

And the pup mania only grows to a bang with Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl! Catch it Sunday Feb. 6, starting at 3 pm ET and all night long! View all the puppy athletes and vote for the MVP throughout the week!!

So that all ads up to some pup-tastic ways to spend your week! Who’s a good puppy? Who’s a puppy! You are! Yes, you are! Woof!

It’s Hard Packing Up The Holidays

I never liked packing up after the holidays, but having to turn off the main Holiday Picture Party links is the worst. But if we kept them up any longer we’d look like that house with the colored lights up in July. Astoundingly 4,338 pets joined the party, 3464 dogs and 874 cats. A permanent link to each pet’s holiday picture will always remain on their regular page.

If you need some of that holiday spirit, we’ll leave this link on so you can stroll the 2004 Holiday Picture Party whenever you want.

Happy (Human) Birthday Dogster!!!!!

One year ago this very day, Dogster was let loose on the world. I can still remember the minute I removed the password requirement and the first new user found the site and added their puppy. I can’t even begin to describe what a surprising and fun (and tiring and demanding ;) year it has been. So, Dogster, happy (human) birthday, we got you a new homepage to mark the event, we hope you like it. Raise your kibble bowl to many more! Woof Woof!

Did You See The New Homepage?

Yippee! We have a new homepage! Actually, it’s just an excuse to get more great dog pictures on the homepage. On top of that we created new features such as a featured Breed of the Week, Diary of the Day, and items we like. So as you’ll notice there is much to see, so just scratch and sniff your way around and rub up against whatever you like. Of course everything here is just a work in progress so let us know what you think as we have no other goal but to keep making the sites better.

Yes, We’ve Gone Dog Show Crazy!

A quick stroll throuhh our site and you’ll see we’re all about the 2005 AKC/Eukanuba National Invitational Championship on Animal Planet this weekend. The ads are on almost every page, so click them to see all the details. We’re really excited to be involved and having a hard time keeping our paws on the keyboards.

This year it will be an unprecedented LIVE two-day simulcast. Showtime begins on both Saturday and Sunday the 15th and 16th 8pm-11pm EST/5PM-8PM PST. You can even vote online for a real-time Voter’s Choice award that will be announced during the show! Click and ad to check the site out now for videos and backgrounds on the competitors. And whatever you do cancel your plans this weekend, bring the dog beds into the TV room and go doggie crazy.

I Think We’ll Need To Create A New Section

Here’s an email we got recently. All your kind words and wonderful stories like this one really keep us going.

Just wanted to let you know that thanks to dogster, another homeless dog has found a permanent home. Someone noticed the mention of a beagle rescue in my dogs’ bios and contacted me and I was able to put them in touch with the right folks to enable an elderly, overweight, bi-lingual (original owner spoke Chinese) beagle to find her forever family. Not only is dogster fun, but you make a difference in the lives of dogs and people!

Wendy

Actually Wendy it’s people like you and the tireless rescue organizations, foster guardians etc. that are the ones really making a difference. We just chase our tail knowing we can play a role in linking the dots on a worldwide scale. We’ve got hopes and plans we’ll be able to make it even easier for people to find rescue and link even more dogs, I mean dots, I mean dogs!

You Can Help Animals Affected by the Asian Tsunami

From 1994-1995 I worked in Bangladesh for a village-level development organization. I heard unbelievable first-hand stories from coastal residents of the devastation caused by cyclone-created tidal surges that would push walls of ocean well inland leaving families and homes in tatters or worse. Later I had the chance to travel to similar regions in the area including Sumatra, Mayalasia, Thailand and India, where I always had no choice but to take note of the absence of a safety net for too many of their residents. The recent tsunami waves we’ve watched so many times on our TV’s have changed those affected communities for generations. After assesing the human toll, it’s not long before one wonders what can happen to their pets and animals. The Humane Society International has committed to bring relief by helping care for the aniamals and their caretakers and we think they are trustworthy organization. You can help by making a donation today.
