Wow! We’ve got to get a bigger mint. We are thrilled to report that since we started offering 5 Zealies to members each time they added a Local Listing. In that period over 19,670 listing were added which amounts to 98,350 Zealies earned by Dogster and Catster members. That’s a lot of kibble! Including Zealies earned for writing reviews that equals well over 100,000 Zealies earned just for getting involved in Local.
At this time we’ve concluded the 5 Zealie reward for adding new Local Listings, though everyone will still get 2 Zealies for each Local review you write (hint, hint ;) Review zealies expired in early December, 2007

We’ve had a ball testing all sorts of cool products in order to bring you our first-annual Holiday Gift Guides for dogs and cats (and those who love them). From toys to tents, you’ll find 35 fun ideas in a range of prices to fit any budget.
Dogster HQ dogs and cats were happy to pitch in by testing tons of items. In the photos above, Anoki shows her hearty approval for the Dip-a-Dog-a-Bone decorating kit, which you can see on this page of the dog guide. Poor kitty Alecto tried to get in on the action after her pup pal had already hoovered away the treat.

The finalists have been named, and now you can pick your favorites—the creme de la creme of canines and felines. You can vote once for dogs and once for cats. We also made it easy for you to post your favorites on any web page you want and help get the vote out!
Over 30,000 pet pics were submitted and over 3 million votes cast so far. Best in Show winners get pawesome prizes and major notoriety based on YOUR votes. So get in there and promote the pets you think deserve the title!

Dogster and DreamWorks pictures are holding a casting call for a new movie that starts production really soon. It’s easy to enter the contest: Just submit a video of your dog showing off his or her best trick. One pup-star will be cast to appear in a cameo role in “Hotel for Dogs,” an upcoming movie from DreamWorks. It’s a family film that tells the story of two orphaned siblings who transform an old, deserted hotel into a dogs’ paradise.
The casting call is only open for 30 days, so hurry and enter now!

Hi everywoof,
As you must imagine Dogster is a human-friendly work place. It’s fine for us pups to bring our humans in with us every day.
Ok, ok, I fess up. We are in fact humans here at HQ, and of course we are a dog-friendly office. (We are cat-friendly too, but so far no cat has taken us up on the offer ;)
A couple months ago Dogster adopted a wonderful dog who sadly was unsocialized for too many years and is still getting used to the company of other dogs. He’s a great dog and has made great progress, but his development has led to a new problem.
Can you help us? He posted the problem in Dogster Answers and would love to hear solutions you know of.

We’re so excited to say that we’ve formally launched a dedicated Gift Store and a whole new way to give items to site friends, as well as a whole new class of items to give called ‘Special Gifts’
You can go to the store directly by going to www.dogster.com/gifts, or on any pet’s page clicking the gift icon will take you to the new gift store.
At the gift store you can pick from Rosettes, Stars and the new class of items, Special Gifts. Special Gifts are bigger more meaningful gifts that appear in a new Special Gift Box on the recipient’s page. The Special Gift Box only appears on dog pages when that doggy has a new Special Gift.
Rosettes and Stars are exactly the same, though we improved the information viewing so instead of having to wait for a pop-up window to load, the details are shown in a faster overlay image. Click any icon once to see the item details, click anywhere else on the page to make it go away.
Another nice new feature is that any dog can give any other dog some Zealies any time. Someone help you with a site question? You can bark them a couple Zealies. Someone watch your real dog over the weekend? You can bark them some more. You can give Zealies to anyone on the Zealie page.
Finally, I just want to remind everyone that Special Gifts are not the same thing as Rosettes and Stars, nor are they replacements. Special Gifts are when you want to give something special to some doggie that is special to you.
