How to Use Coupon Codes at petco.com
Important: Coupon links for Petco vary. You have to click on one of the links above to get a discount, then one of two things will happen: Either you’ll be on a page at petco.com where they give you a coupon code OR the discount will automatically apply when clicking the link above. You won’t know until you click.
Step 1: Petco is an easy one. They’ve got a clearly defined “coupon code” box on the initial shopping cart page. To start, just go to www.petco.com (by clicking one of the discount links above) and add any items you want to buy into your shopping cart. Just make sure that the total is high enough to trigger the discount you’re going for. The first cart page looks like this:
Step 2: Notice the box at the bottom left with the red border that says “enter promotion/coupon code.” Enter one of the petco coupon codes that you got from the top of the page. Notice how the display changes once you hit the “ADD” button. (note: if the discount code was applied at the time you clicked the link, your screen will look like the one below)
Step 3: In the image above, see the new section above the “enter promotion/coupon code” box? It’s telling you the specific promotion that your coupon code is tied to. In this case, it’s knocking $15 off your order. You’ll also see the amount of the discount that Petco is giving you in big red font on the right hand side of the page.
About Petco.com
Petco is primarily a retail pet supply chain, based out of San Diego, and running over 900 locations in 49 states. Each retail store sells over 1,000 products, with their online division, www.petco.com, selling thousands more SKU’s that are not available in their stores.
The appeal of Petco is that they’re convenient (almost everyone lives within 20 minutes of a Petco), and sell at affordable prices. They’re not going to carry high end or designer dog products, because that’s not what they do. They’re a mass market operation. If you need a bag of dog food, you go to Petco & chances are that you’ll walk out with not only the bag of food, but maybe some toys, treats, and a new leash.
Their website, www.petco.com, is an extention of their retail philosophy. Sell a ton of different mass-market products, offer specials like free shipping, and end up selling more items per order than their competition.
Recently, Petco has been targeting the more upscale dog owner market by adding retail space for holistic dog food that’s branded as “It’s All Natural.” This kind of product is getting more and more popular, especially after the big dog food crisis of 2007.
