Can Pets Die From Vaccine Reactions?
Have you ever known a dog to react to or even die
from vaccines? We had a seven-year-old Staffordshire
Terrier who was completely healthy and was taken
for vaccines. One day later he was in convulsions
and three days later we had him put to sleep because
he had not gotten any better. Your input would be
appreciated. I just want to know what happened to
him.

Vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system. For the vast majority of animals, vaccines cause mild stimulation that protects them from disease. However, in rare and tragic instances an animal may suffer from an excessive immune system response. This can lead to severe reactions, shock and even death.
There is no doubt that for most animals vaccines do much more good than harm. To put things in perspective, consider my personal experience with animal vaccines. In the last eight years, two of my patients have suffered from vaccine reactions that would have been fatal if I had not intervened (fortunately, I was able to stop the reactions in both cases). In the last seven days, I have seen three unvaccinated dogs die from parvovirus. Vaccines would have prevented those deaths.
Although vaccine reactions are rare, it is very upsetting when they occur. Tonya, your story is heartbreaking.
And, although vaccine reactions are rare, there is no reason for any person to accept a one-size-fits-all vaccination protocol for his or her pet. Every pet has unique vaccination needs. A good vet will be willing to talk to you about your pet’s lifestyle and decide, with you, which vaccines are appropriate for your pet.

Have you ever seen a dog have neurological side-effects from vaccines? I have a three year old dog that has been two Cornell University twice and had three separate vets. She began showing neurological deficits about a week after her first shots. No one has been able to diagnose her.
Dear Editor, I think that vacines can cause death to animals because.My opinion,I think that dog’s can die from vaccines.Because the vacines met leave a side affect that can cause deaths for dogs.I met not be a specialiss in dogs but this is what I think that can happen.As you read my story my reasons will serve my reasoning.When I had went to the doctors to get my shots they had gave me three needels. The next day when I had went to school I felt a side affect that I got from the needles.My arms were sore and one of my friends.Told me that I had a blester in my arms.Were they put the neddels at.The holes were lumpy and red also a little black,my arms were very sore.I couldn’t put my arms up in the air because if I did it felt like someone punchured my arms.I coudn’t take the pan it hurted really bad.This is why I think that vaccines can cause death to animals.This is my opinion!!!!
