We didnt get tinkerbell spayed until she was almost 2, but we couldnt find a vet we trusted enough to do the surgery.... my 3 boys (NuNu Buster and Shadow) were all neutered before i got them... and let me tell you early neuter does NOT help seperation anxiety BOL NuNu is a nut case if we leave the house and he was neutered actually BEFORE 8 weeks!!!! For males the same thing but in different parts. We had just taken my dog Cleo to the vet and that's what the vet had said.
